An AAC Consultant is a specialist who works in the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication. The role of an AAC Consultant includes providing a variety of direct and indirect services and supports to students, educational staff & families by:
- Participating in multifactored evaluations,
- Conducting AAC trials and evaluations,
- Promoting compliance with IEP writing in regard to assistive tech,
- Assisting with training and troubleshooting of AAC systems, and
- Facilitating workshops and various Professional Development to provide holistic training and support when needed.
Natalie Gonyea is a Speech-Language Pathologist that has worked in the school systems, servicing PK - 12th grade students in Sandusky and Lorain Counties. She received her Master’s Degree from the University of Akron with a concentration in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in 2018. Natalie has a passion for AAC and looks forward to utilizing it in this capacity.
