MAKE AN AAC CONSULTANT REFERRAL
STEP 1:
Parent/Guardian Permission Form
- We must have signed permission from the student's parent or guardian before reviewing any referral.
Please discuss the need for AAC Consultant services AND receive permission from the Director of Special Education within your District before proceeding to the next step
STEP 2:
Referral Form
- Complete the Referral Form in its entirety. After completion of this form, the ESCLC will reach out to your District SPED Director to create a service agreement. This is needed before we can begin.
STEP 3:
IEP/ETR
- Please email a copy of the student's most recent IEP and ETR to Natalie Gonyea,
[email protected]
, for review prior to the consultation.
STEP 4:
Scheduling
- Natalie will reach out to the referring SLP/ staff member to schedule a meeting with your team and discuss next steps for your student.
WHAT IS AN AAC CONSULTANT?
An AAC Consultant is a specialist who works in the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication. The role of an AAC Consultant includes providing a variety of direct and indirect services and supports to students, educational staff & families by:
Participating in multifactored evaluations.
Conducting AAC trials and evaluations.
Promoting compliance with IEP writing in regard to assistive tech.
Assisting with training and troubleshooting of AAC systems.
Facilitating workshops and various Professional Development to provide holistic training and support when needed.

Natalie has worked in the school systems, servicing PK - 12th grade students in Sandusky and Lorain Counties. She received her Master’s Degree from the University of Akron with a concentration in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in 2018. She has a passion for AAC and looks forward to utilizing it in this capacity.
