Conquering Dyslexia Book Study - Spring Cohort

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Any K-12 Educator or Administrator interested in learning more about dyslexia

Must have at least 5 participants.
Registration is limited to the first 40 people (a wait list will be available).
 

Dyslexia is no longer a mystery. MRI scans and other tools of neuroscience have advanced our understandings in the last decade. We now know what to do to help students become skilled, confident learners.

Jessica and Olivia will guide participants through a deeper understanding of dyslexia providing a clear framework of instructional approaches that work best for children identified with dyslexia or at risk for dyslexia.

Participants will…

-Develop a better understanding of dyslexia

-Identify the signs to look for within the educational setting

-Recognize how dyslexia is identified

-Understand how to teach students with dyslexia

-Be equipped to determine what to teach students with dyslexia

-Acquire an educator’s and a family perspective in supporting a child with dyslexia


We will have 4 Zoom meetings to facilitate discussions regarding chapters and assignments from the text:

1. Welcome to Conquering Dyslexia Book Study Discussion

2. “Why Conquering Dyslexia Matters to Me” and Chapter 1 Discussion

3. Chapters 2-3 Discussion

4. Chapters 4-5 Discussion


EVENT FEE: $25 - LC District Members*  |  $50 - Non-Members

Participants are responsible to purchase their own copy of Conquering Dyslexia: A Guide to Early Detection and Intervention for Teachers and Parents written by: Jan Hasbrouck Ph.D.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
EVENTS REQUIRING A REGISTRATION FEE:  We must receive your cancellation in writing by emailing [email protected] at least two weeks prior to the event date for a full refund. If you do not cancel or are a no-show, you/your district will be invoiced the full event fee.

EVENTS WITH NO REGISTRATION FEE:   We must receive your cancellation in writing by emailing [email protected] at least 24 hours prior to the event.  If you do not cancel or are a no-show, you/your district will be invoiced a $25 registration fee since our presenters prepare their presentation and may charge an event/planning fee.

In the case of an emergency or situations out of the ordinary, registrations are transferable to another colleague.
