Target Audience: Math Teachers
Student-Centered Math offers educators a new and engaging way to approach their instruction and provides a shift in instruction that allows students to do the thinking while engaging in mathematical application and communication to increase their ability to reason and problem solve.
Participants will learn about the integration of NCTM’s Effective Teaching Practices, Standards for Mathematical Practice, and Building Thinking Classrooms to build the foundation of a student centered math classroom. We will be learning routines and protocols specifically for mathematical discourse, modeling in mathematics, and problem solving and reasoning. Participants will be developing resources to use for immediate implementation.
As part of the High Quality Instructional Materials in Math Initiative, this session is grant funded and free to K-12 math teachers.
Participants will also receive a free manipulative kit!
